Urban project in Marseille (13) Îlot Smartseille 2
The development of the Smartseille 2 development block, a stone's throw from the port of Marseille, is above all about forging links with neighbouring districts,
and to connect existing public spaces to the future axes.
A clear, accessible framework has been created thanks to new, calmer roads
to promote pedestrian comfort. Three lots are formed from this road layout, containing low, controlled volumes and a number of buildings with views towards the Mediterranean.
The ground floors of the new outdoor spaces will be enlivened by shops.
The removal of waterproofing from the ground and the planting of vegetation in public spaces guarantee shaded areas, and the presence of a large amount of vegetation in the heart of plots helps to combat heat islands, stimulate biodiversity and introduce urban agriculture systems.
