The project is located in the commune of Montlouis-sur-Loire, on the banks of the Loire and Eure rivers, in the suburbs of Tours. The environmental issues, the wishes of the inhabitants and the values of sport have led to the use of nature as a key element in this public facility.
The gymnasium and the gymnastics hall are set in the landscape of the site. The proposed architecture is sober and discreet in order to reflect the surrounding nature and its colours. The volume of the building is designed as an element that enhances and highlights this landscape heritage. The two rooms are built around a central space that houses the common rooms and the hall. They are visible from the hall thanks to a play of transparencies.
The layout of the building offers pleasant and legible spaces, thus providing an optimal sports experience for the user. In order to be as close as possible to the expectations and wishes of the local residents, the project is designed in consultation with them.
The building's construction processes are as close as possible to our sustainable vision of architecture.
The structure is made of glued laminated timber and the ground floor walls are timber framed. The interior spaces benefit from the warm atmosphere created by the wood. The ground floor façade is clad in metal, reflecting the landscape while at the same time emphasising it with acoustic frosted glass frames.
