Interior layout and design for the Laherrère Centre

As a place to live, work, train and develop the economy, the Laherrère centre is contributing to the development of the Saragosse district by creating a wide range of accommodation for students and young workers, office and training space, craft premises, as well as local shops and services.

Accommodating shops, services and craft premises with a direct link to Place Laherrère, the active pedestals operate independently in the two buildings. Each building has a generous double-height shared entrance hall for all the programmes on the upper floors, accessible via two major entrances located on the square, and fitted out by CoBe's Design department. A set of bespoke joinery frames, including letterboxes, has been created in the double-height lobby of the east residential building. In the office building, a reception desk in Landes pine and Arudy stone (Pyrénées Atlantiques) was also custom-made for the entrance hall (photo below left).

Our aim was to design homes that are exemplary in terms of habitability, with a layout that encourages tenants to make their homes their own, providing them with a sense of comfort and privacy, of
"home from home. Particular attention has been paid to bringing light into the homes, notably through the use of large windows and generous ceiling heights of around 2.70 metres. Each home has a fixed bay 195cm high and 125cm wide, with no horizontal overlap to make the most of the light and views.
This bay is adjoined by a full wooden sash on a spandrel, concealed in the façade (photo below right).

The furnishings and decor of the homes have been created with the environment in mind. design thinking. As a result, the homes here create an atmosphere close to that of a conventional flat: light colours, wooden furniture, yellow-painted kitchens and bathrooms, earthenware tiles and wall units, non-standard designer lighting and plenty of storage space.
