Empalot's project confirms its contextual anchoring at all scales, from intimate space to large landscape, through 3 themes: light, shadow and reflection.
Composed of a vertical volume and a horizontal volume sliding against each other and recalling the surrounding volumetrics, this "landscape building" accommodates 90 free housing units and 20 social housing units for the social landlord Toulouse Habitat. The dwellings, ranging from T1 to T5, are arranged on 12 floors in the vertical building and on 5 floors in the horizontal building.
On the ground floor is a club house with changing rooms and a common room accessible from the football pitch, as well as two rooms dedicated to the association Résilience Occitanie, which is committed to helping children with disabilities.
With a main façade facing south and bordering a football pitch, it was important to think about how to ensure summer comfort for all the homes. To achieve this, a double system was put in place, combining large metal shades that extend the wide, 2-metre wide balconies along the south and west façades, creating real additional rooms.
