On 15 September, we presented the Cachan Campus redevelopment project during a tour organised by Ekopolis, alongside Marie Noutary (Sadev 94), Samuel Bargas (Cachan Town Council) and Mathieu Pillet (ValorSites).
For nearly 10 years, CoBe has been supporting the transformation of this site – formerly occupied by the École normale supérieure – into an urban campus that is largely open to the city.
This transformation is underpinned by the various projects currently underway on the campus: the refurbishment of the CROUS, the reorganisation of the secondary school, the conversion of the Porterie building into a centre for community groups and citizen initiatives, and the creation of 300 homes. As part of the «Sustainable Neighbourhoods in the Île-de-France Region» (QDF) initiative, the Cachan Campus project is one of the 39 winners of the ‘Sustainable City Demonstrator: Living in the France of Tomorrow’ call for expressions of interest.
The initiative led by the Town of Cachan and Sadev 94, the support of Ekopolis and Vizea, the work carried out alongside epdc and ValorSites, and the contribution of Ressourcerie La Mine and Atelier CRAFT, have enabled us to achieve several environmental objectives:
• 70 % of permeable public spaces. 🌱
• 30 % of bio-based materials and materials reused on site.♻️
• 1,600 m³ of excavated soil reused on site. 🌳
And because working with living plants is at the heart of the design of public spaces, our team was at the nursery that very day to select the 80 large-growing trees that will be planted this winter, as part of the campus’s second planting campaign.
These trees will complement the existing tree canopies and help to provide more shade during the hottest months – a major priority that we are committed to addressing in all our projects.
Work on the 5.7 ha of public spaces, which began in the summer of 2025 and is being carried out by Assainissement Terrassement Voirie, EUROVERT SA and @Help, will continue until spring 2028.
The first phase of the works will be completed in January 2027.
