Our thinking focused on carefully integrating the project into a neighbourhood consisting mainly of millstone houses. In this context, the project takes full advantage of the topography to ensure a smooth transition between the domestic scale of the neighbouring houses and that of the five-storey buildings of the adjoining faculty.
The programme also includes the creation of communal areas, a study room, a common room, staff accommodation and ancillary services. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The project is divided into three distinct volumes in order to reduce its scale and better interact with the surrounding area. Each entity has its own brick colour in order to reinforce this distinction between the different parts. The construction complies with BBC building standards. Brick is used here for two reasons. It helps the residence blend into its surroundings and also provides durable cladding for the complex's external insulation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Solar thermal panels are integrated into the sloping roof of the two-storey west building. This roof houses 30 m\u00b2 of solar thermal panels to supplement the communal gas boiler system. The flat roofs are planted with vegetation to facilitate the evapotranspiration of rainwater. This system also provides significant additional insulation and an attractive appearance for this fifth fa\u00e7ade, which is visible from the neighbouring collective building.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
